Today is December 7th, and it’s the date that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. Papa’s best friend, Wally Dunn, was stationed aboard the USS Arizona and was killed during the attack. It’s what motivated Papa to join the Navy. He spent three years in the South Pacific serving aboard the troop transport ship, USS Barrow.
National Geographic offers a multi-media presentation called “Remembering Pearl Harbor,” that explains the events surrounding this tragic and historic event using real photos, footage, and first-hand accounts. This presentation is like taking a field trip back in time to December 7, 1941 that President Franklin D. Roosevelt called, “a date which will live in infamy.”
